QoS and Multipoint support for Multimedia Applicationsover
نویسندگان
چکیده
Multimedia applications with stringent delay requirements are usually supported by the constant bit rate (CBR) or real-time variable bit rate VBR (rt-VBR) service categories of ATM. This paper shows that ABR service, which was originally designed for data, can also support multimedia applications under certain circumstances. Issues related to the design of proper ABR traac management algorithms for such support are presented.

A Multipoint-to-Multipoint Routing Method for Load Balanced Communications in Large Scale Networks
Recently, diverse multimedia applications with stringent multiple Quality of Service (QoS) requirements have been increasing. In particular, multicast communication has become more popular because of its availability and for efficient use of network resources. Most multicasts are point-to-multipoint, in which a source delivers data to multiple designated recipients, such as for video or audio d...
متن کاملDesign Considerations for a Multicast Communication Framework
In the last years, networked multimedia multipoint applications have been developed in conjunction with emerging broadband networks. Experiences have shown that existing transport systems support these applications only insufficiently, since they offer no assistance for real-time multimedia and multipoint applications. In this paper, we propose a Multicast Communication Framework (MCF) which sa...
متن کاملA Generic Service Management Architecture for Multimedia Multipoint Communications
With rapid advances in multimedia processing technologies, and in high bandwidth network technologies, new kinds of multimedia applications are now emerging. These applications require real-time, multimedia, and multipoint interactions involving multiple communicating entities and leading to a need of more sophisticated communication control functionalities. In this paper, a generic integrated ...
متن کاملDelay-Constrained Multiring Construction for Ordered Multipoint-to-Multipoint Communications
Many multimedia distributed applications such as audio and video conferencing, collaborative environments, multiplayer games and distributed interactive simulation need multicast for efficient transmissions and require quality of service (QoS) guaranties to run correctly. For example, real-time interactive applications require bounded delay, video-based applications require large bandwidth, app...
متن کاملQuality-of-Service-oriented Communication Support for Multipoint Applications
The Multipoint Communication Framework MCF defines and implements a communication architecture that offers flexible multipoint communication services with end-to-end performance guarantees. The requirements of multimedia, multipoint applications are fulfilled by dynamically composed protocol stacks which run on top of a state-of the art network such as an ATM or IP integrated services network. ...
